Notes From the
Vintner
|
Welcome
to our column. We hope that you will return to
learn interesting notes on wine, and related
subjects. Wine is a great gift from God to be used
for the enjoyment of man. It is a food, and should
be treated as such. It is meant to lift up the body
and lighten the soul. 06/1/04

Are you ready? ?
? The
crush is just around the bend, so are you ready? This is the
time that each year we need to check our equipment, the
storage tanks, back to the crusher. All you need to do is to
take an evening and a glass of wine and look at all the
items you use in making wine. After the third glass you
should be finished
.or ready to finish checking another
day...
Now to page
two, as one radio announcer would
say
I
have talked in the past of the importance of information
about the winemaking families that lived in Arkansas, and
the history of winemaking. I want to again ask you if you
know any information on this subject, to please let the
museum know. This last month one of the Directors and I went
to visit a lady who's husband had a large winery in
Arkansas. We were able to video tape an interview with her
that will later be shown in the museum. We have several more
people to video tape this year as we build a base for a new
exhibit for the museum. Talking to these people and being
able to see them speak adds to the message of the history.
If you know of anyone that we might want to interview,
please let us know. It is important for history that this
knowledge is saved.
Also, on the subject of the museum
there have been some
major improvements to the exhibits. As I was told many years
ago
it needs a women's touch. This has proved correct
with the help of a few women on the board. They have added
some very nice touch's to the exhibits, and really dressed
them up. The Board of Trustees is larger now and more people
are doing different things in many areas of the museum. You
are welcome to stop by and visit the museum any time you are
in the area.
So, now to a glass of wine
and a few thoughts of wine
history
we all have some.
