Notes From the
Vintner
|
Welcome
to our column. We hope that you will return to
learn interesting notes on wine, and related
subjects. Wine is a great gift from God to be used
for the enjoyment of man. It is a food, and should
be treated as such. It is meant to lift up the body
and lighten the soul. 4/01/07

Not only will Faith move a mountain, it can also prune a vineyard…For I know this for a fact. Remember last month when a certain vintner was lamenting about being so far behind. Well this certain vintner is not behind at the vineyard as we write.
It is important to work hard and have faith that things will work out. I see this so often as I age, things working out. That does not mean that more things cannot come up, or that we can not add more large irons to the fire. But in the end, things will work out.
Well, on to another subject—the wine competition at the end of this month. It is always a fun event, and this year something new has been added. We are going to have a dinner at the Community Center of Paris to present the winners their awards. The dinner is not formal, but rather a fun dinner with the money raised from the dinner to go to the Arkansas Historic Wine Museum. This will be a fund raiser for the museum with the price of tickets at $10.00 if purchased before the event, or $15.00 at the door. Wines will be served at the dinner, and much fellowship will be had by all.
There are many good sides to this addition to the competiton. The general public will be able to enjoy a good meal and visit with home winemakers. Someone not knowledgeable about wine will be presented with an opportunity to learn first hand from people who make wine. There is also the tasting of wines of all kinds from the competition. So tell all your friends and plan on attending. This event will be on the last Saturday of April, starting at 5:30 at the Community Center next to First National Bank in the center of town.
Now would you like to take a few minutes to brush up on your wine tasting???
I happen to have fine bottle of wine right here. To us…
