Welcome
to our column. We hope that you will return to
learn interesting notes on wine, and related
subjects. Wine is a great gift from God to be used
for the enjoyment of man. It is a food, and should
be treated as such. It is meant to lift up the body
and lighten the soul. 4/01/06

A report
of where things are…Now
and then, we need to stop and report where we are in our
list of projects, and how we are doing…This is not so
much to gain any praise, but rather to find a shoulder to
cry on.
Having "irons" and fire is something we all have. The key to
this balancing act is to have enough fire for all the irons,
or a few less irons. This is one trick that I have yet to
master. I have been told that it is my own fault that I have
too many irons. Well I have news for them; old dogs do not
take to new tricks.
The new museum in Hot Springs is up and running. We have
already had people stop in to visit this museum that went
and visited the one in Hot Springs. The dedication was grand
with only one very sad note…Dr. John L. Ferguson, the
retired State Historian who was going to dedicate the museum
died the night before. So the day was happy and sad.
The second B & B is about on line, and will be ready
within 10 days. This will give us two unites. The new one is
larger, and has an inter-court, kitchenette, and is on the
side of the winery.
The vineyard is pruned, tied, sprayed, and only needs a few
replacement plants planted. The irrigation system in 80% in
place…water coming soon ! ! !
The wine competition is under way and many wines are here at
the winery. There is still another week until the closing of
the entries for this 2006 competition.
A trip is planned for next month to go after barrels. This
trip may have a bit of R & R time built into the
schedule.
Now this is a list of some of the things going on here at
the winery. There is also redbud and dogwood trees planted,
along with roses and flowers. Deaconing at Mass every
Sunday, and preaching everyother Sunday.
I feel better already…I believe that this is enough I
think that I do enough to stop and have a glass of
wine…Say a large glass of wine. Shall you join
