Notes From the
Vintner
|
Welcome
to our column. We hope that you will return to
learn interesting notes on wine, and related
subjects. Wine is a great gift from God to be used
for the enjoyment of man. It is a food, and should
be treated as such. It is meant to lift up the body
and lighten the soul. 03/1/01

It is that time of
the year again
Time
to go for the Gold. How are the wines in your cellars doing?
We all like to tell how fine our wines are and let our
friends taste the good ones. Some we may reserve for the
sink, but let us not speak of them. A lot of wine making is
tooting your own horn. And if your wine is good, go for
it
just pride is a good thing.
So now it is time
to think of entering the BIG
COMPETITION,
and winning real gold
and silver.
The Cowie Amateur Wine Competition offers real gold
and silver coins as prizes. Even the big boys do not win
REAL gold or
silver,
but the amateurs sure can at this annual event. This is the
only competition in the nation to offer the real
stuff.
It is easy to
enter and fun to win. There is an entry form in the Events
Section of this web site. It just takes two bottles to
enter. Just think, that means if you win the gold your wine
is worth about $200.00 per bottle. Now that would be
something to crow about to your friends.
Each wine that is
entered receives an evaluation sheet from the judges. So you
will know just what the judges think of your wine. The
judging will be done at the University of Arkansas under the
direction of Dr. Justin Morris, Distinguished
Professor.
The wines must
arrive at Cowie Wine Cellars no later than midnight on April
14, 2001. Two bottles are required to enter. The
presentation of awards will take place at the winery west of
Paris on April 28, 2001, at noon. Then there will be a
pouring of all the wines entered.
SO
check out
your cellars and see what is your best wine,
then go for
the GOLD.
