Museum Receives Award

The Arkansas Historic Wine Museum received second place - honorable mention in the Arkansas Museum of the Year awards. The certificate was presented at the Governor's mansion during the 37th Annual Meeting at the conference awards benefit. The award was presented by the president of the Arkansas Museum Association, Kim Williams.

The award recognizes the achievements of museums within certain annual budgets. The Arkansas Historic Wine Museum is dedicated to preserving the rich wine-making heritage of Arkansas from the time of the earliest settlers until the present. The museum works to preserve the information and artifacts associated with this Arkansas tradition.

The Museum is located on Highway 22 at Carbon City, three miles west of Paris, Arkansas. You are invited to tour the museum when you are in the area and join the museum in celebrating Arkansas Wine Heritage Day on May 3rd, 2003, from noon until 3:00 p.m. This year's theme recognizes the importance of the 200th year of the Louisiana Purchase, and is supported in part by an educational grant from the Department of Arkansas Heritage.
